Read story here: Mary Johnston Hospital 200 Frontline Workers Stand Against COVID-19

April 27, 2020

Two hundred (200) of Mary Johnston Hospital’s (MJH) brave front liners composed of Doctors, Nurses, Med techs, Xray, and Ancillary stand with the rest of the country’s health front line workers in this fight against COVID-19 pandemic. They are dedicating their lives and services to the nation, heroes of their own generation. Mary Johnston Hospital together with its health partners salutes the men and women in the health service.

Around the globe, nations are racing against time to find the much-needed vaccine against COVID-19 as more and more lives were lost daily. In the Philippines, the increasing number of positive cases of nearly seven thousand has prompted the government to extend the Community Enhanced Quarantine (ECQ) in high-risk areas, further tighten quarantine measures and ask the citizen’s cooperation to contain the spread of the virus.  As of April 19, 2020, Mary Johnston Hospital (MJH) Emergency Unit was able to examine a total of 1,673 patients and 709 patients exhibited mild, severe or critical symptoms. Out of these, 533 were classified Suspect and 176 were Probable and tested for COVID-19 through OPS or NPS. Sixteen (16) cases were laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 positive, 52 cases were tested negative, and 108 cases await results from RITM.

Given the uncertainties of the situation, MJH health workers must endure and brace more days of extended work hours. Fortunately, the hospital’s limited resources are supplemented by an overwhelming outcome upon reaching out to its health partners.  The MJH management, its brave front liners, and the Board of Trustees are deeply thankful for all the BLESSINGS such as Food, Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs), other health essential supplies and support the hospital continuously received. For MJH, the donor’s unconditional supports are likewise commendable.

Nothing is impossible with God. MJH takes on a whole of society approach, where partnerships for health are seen as necessary for restitution and restoration.  In God’s grace, we will heal as one.
